Hyderabad, June 16:
Telangana Industries and IT Minister Sridhar Babu announced that nearly 80% of youth trained at the state’s newly established Young India Skill University have already secured employment, marking a significant milestone in the state’s skill development mission.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Mega Job/Skill & Loan Mela held at PG Law College in Basheerbagh – HYD, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to turning Telangana into the “Skill Capital of the Globe.” The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Government of India) and the Department of Employment & Training (Government of Telangana).
Minister Sridhar Babu, alongside Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, formally inaugurated the mela and used the occasion to seek central support for further developing the prestigious Young India Skill University. He invited the Union Minister to visit the campus and witness its progress.
Recognized the skill gap
“Our government, under CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership, recognized the skill gap between youth and industry requirements. That’s why we are working closely with industry experts and educational institutions to design relevant, job-oriented courses,” Sridhar Babu said.
He pointed out that the state government is determined to bridge the gap between education and employment by making industries and professionals key stakeholders in curriculum development and skill training. “80% of the trained youth have already landed jobs,” he stated.
Addressing the youth, the Minister encouraged them to adapt to changing times by learning new skills, especially in technology. “You are all talented. But in today’s world, skill is as important as knowledge. Keep trying, don’t get discouraged by failure – success will come,” he said.
Reaffirming the Congress government’s inclusive approach, he added, “We believe in taking everyone along, and our efforts in skill development are no exception. We are ready to collaborate with the Centre to build a skilled and empowered workforce.”
Several dignitaries, including MP R. Krishnaiah, MLC Anji Reddy, TSMDC Chairman Anil Kumar, and former MLC Kapilavai Dilip Kumar, were present at the event.
